100 Years Of Hope: In 2023, The Second Baptist Church of Santa Ana (SBC) will celebrate its 100th year of service as the oldest historically Black church in Orange County, CA. This documentary feature film will detail several of the major events celebrating the centennial celebration, interwoven with important milestones from the church's history, and its current challenges in the effort to advance racial reconciliation. Having endured segregation, untimely leadership changes, and brutal violence, Second Baptist Church now endeavors to meet a renewed call to forge unity within the bitterly divided American landscape.
The goal of 100 Years of Hope is to prompt a reassessment of the church's role as a community partner that can build bridges and promote unity within our fractured society. The film also intends to spark conversation regarding healthcare outcomes within the black community and the church's changing role in the wider American landscape.
The film has been in production since February 2023. We anticipate shooting through the spring of 2024, with a projected release date in early 2025.
